Poor customer service, delayed refund

I tried their trial box about a year ago, then cancelled my subscription without problems. One of the polishes basically peeled right of my nails and didn't even last a day. However, I decided to try it again this year, and this time when I tried to cancel, it was a complete nightmare. I called 3 times, never got through, and left messages all 3 times. Then I got an email stating that my next box was on it's way. I responded to the email and then started sending multiple emails until I finally got a response. They said they would send me a label to return my package. I returned it and still have not received the refund. Meanwhile, since I didn't know they would be charging my account, my account was overdrawn, which has resulted in a cascade of bounced payments and fees. They said they would not refund the overdraft fee I got because of their unauthorized charge, even though they did acknowledged that they had a record of my call to cancel a full 7 days before they charged my account. They said the bank should refund it when they credit my account, which has still not been done yet. I am going this afternoon to close my bank account just to stop all of the *** they have caused me!

Julep Return Products Fail

I started a subscription with Julep.com (online nail polish order) and when I contacted them to cancel my subscription the way they said to contact them though email I didn't necessarily check my email again because I considered it done and I was busy. Apparently they emailed me back (I can't find the email but I assume it was sent and I somehow deleted it) saying I had to contact them by phone to cancel. A package came from Julep and someone in my family opened it. I though, "I didn't contact them before they sent it, that is a last one ". A second package came and I knew right then that I was calling them to cancel again and getting my money back for a package I didn't open and a product I didn't want and couldn't afford. After being on hold for 36 minutes I talk to the customer service rep and she says they won't accept any returns, doesn't matter if I didn't open the box and I had already tried to cancel.

2nd Box

I got a code for a free box of Julep from facebook. Apparently, this also signs you up for a monthly subscription which cost $20- this price was NOT discussed on the receipt. I wanted a refund since I thought the free box was all I would get. However they don't do returns or refunds which is a complete rip off since I neither wanted or used any of the stuff. I feel conned. This $20 subscription was not CLEAR and the receipt only showed a payment for the shipping of the first box but nothing about a $20 fee.

You signed up for a SUBSCRIPTION. It's a not a fee. You just didn't pay attention enough to know to cancel the trial subscription after the free box.

Says right when sign up it is. Should have read.

Left 3 messages - impossible to cancel subscription. Illegal???

Considering calling the Attorney General's office in Washington state. These clubs/subscription companies MUST let you cancel your subscriptions - mandated by the Fair Trade Commission. I held for 28 minutes yesterday and have called 5x since and only able to leave 2 messages to call me back. They claim in their revolving automated message that they are busied out. Just a game to keep you annoyed, unable to cancel and to keep you in the club??? Really - how many nail polishes do you need every month?? Need better product diversification too. I will call my credit card company and tell them to reject any future charges. Better Business Bureau too? KimmerNY

I was charged for a second box, when I did not even receive the first (trial) box

I ordered the trial box at julep on Dec the 17th, and waited for my box to come. Since it was so close to the holidays I anticipated some delay. Then I checked my checking account and noticed I was charged for the next box. I made several phone calls and left message for customer service and was told I was supposed to cancel by the 18th, if I didn't want the next box to be sent out. Its been a headache dealing with their customer service. I left messages with no reply. I did talk to another lady at customer service and was told I would be contacted by a manager. Just waiting at this point.

You Have To Call Them

I believe there was a malfunction on the website when I went to skip one of my Maven boxes. Because of this they never received my skip request and sent me the box and charged my card. As soon as I realized this (which was when I received the box I thought I had asked to skip) I emailed customer support and asked for a refund. Their site says they don't grant refunds for the monthly boxes so I was mad because I had requested it not be sent but it had been. If you want to get anywhere with Julep do NOT email them. They take days to get back to you (up to 5) and their email people will just restate what's on the site and not be helpful. You need to CALL them. The lady I talked to on the phone was very helpful and understanding once I explained my problem. She offered me store credit which I took because I do like Julep's products. I'm sure though that if you are set on your money back being insistent will get you what you want (and also being pleasant and not getting upset). You will probably have to follow up with them if you get a store credit or Jules (I did it just to be safe) but the moral of the story is: DON'T EMAIL, CALL! Email gets you nowhere with Julep but calling does.

Crazy. They count on young girls being unwitting subscribers who try for months to cancel it, think they have cancelled orders, have to call during school hours to cancel, and meanwhile they have shipped 3 or 4 boxes at $20 each before the darn thing gets cancelled.

If there is anyone who successfully cancelled after their "free" trial box with just $3.99 shipping, I would like to know. :upset

Awful customer service, lies.

So my goddaughter bought the first trial box and failed to cancel the subscription afterwards. Her bad and my bad for not checking if it was a subscription but the website says you can cancel anytime (you will unfortunately be fee'd $5.00 for each Maven box you return as a "restock fee"). They FAIL to notify you before you are charged, no courtesy notice/reminder or anything. It took me 45 minutes to get in contact with customer service and even though the transactions/withdrawals were still pending they were unable to cancel them. A good company would not charge a restock fee so I am kind of irritated, you'd think with charging upwards of $14 per polish they'd be able to do returns for free.. I don't think I'll be shopping here anymore.

FORCED UNAUTHORIZED TRANSACTIONS/SHOTTY CUSTOMER SERVICE

Julep is really something. Shady "forcing" credit card transactions on a dead accounts to get your measly $20 a month stating that by purchasing once that "I" authorize future credit card transactions on their website. Refers EVERYTHING to their "terms and conditions" but no where on their website or check out page refers to the terms and conditions they speak of so often EXCEPT the teeny tiny link at the bottom of the page. 99.9% of legitimate websites have a box to agree to their terms and conditions, not Julep. Emails do not refer to their terms and condition either. Emails NEVER go through, not even in the junk box, but they always claim emails have "successful delivery". *** business takes advantage of numerous consumers and not honoring cancelations via email (to pressure you to stay by calling only). Make it known that consumers are agreeing to your terms and condition, not referring it to it every time there's an issue. Reiterating the terms and conditions should be something to consider. They will not resend a box that was undelivered unless you call, but they will force transactions without authorization?!? This "business" is very shady and money hungry, and I see numerous complaints on the BBB, Facebook, and other websites. Do yourself a favor and skip out on this monthly box. Their products are *** as well.

Unauthorized transaction and customer service that NEVER ABLE TO REACH

I received a coupon for a 1-TIME receipt a box from Julep, which I still need to pay $4 for shipping. What I got from the "free $20 worth" of beauty products are terrible nail polishes that I CANNOT use at all. All the products they sell on their website have very high price, then customers can have "discounts" if they subscribe for the box. Totally a scam. And all of a sudden, they charge me $22 for the next month subscription even though I already chose one time purchase when I entered the last time. Trying to call customer service to cancel that but NEVER REACH THEM. TOTALLY SCAM, STAY AWAY FROM THIS.

Didn't notify me and charged me.

This company is just awful. The nailpolish quality is the same as any drugstore nail polish. Customer service is just awful. They just went boo hoo no returns. I was planning on using the $20 for a christmas present. So sad. Im literally crying... Dont become a julep maven. Should have listened to the reviews. On makeup alley, there are more bad reviews than good ones. I even regret reccomending Julep to my friends. Luckily, the didn't sign up. THey weren't *** like I was and saved themselves the anxiety that Julep has given to a lot of people. *** JULEP.

What a Joke!

So, my story seems to be pretty much the same as the others, though when I unsubscribed, it didn't seem to "take" and within a couple of weeks of my receiving the sample, I too was charged and sent my monthly box of just okay nail polish with colors I did not like and would never have chosen! Again, NO returns? Are you kidding me? I'm now in the process of filing a consumer compliant, have gotten in touch with my bank and also the website that "recommended" this bogus company. By the way, I would never spend so much of this quality and quantity of polish and I was a hand model for many years, so believe me, I know nail polish!!

Called to cancel weeks in advance, was still charged and sent the box anyway

I got a box one month, sure, yeah. I got it for $3.99 to try it out, and I thought it was insane to pay $20 a month for 2 nailpolish and a mascara, so I decided to cancel. I e-mailed. They e-mail back and say I have to call. I call. I hear no response. I call again. They call back two days later and say I have to call again. I call again. Finally gets cancelled. Mind you, apparently by time they finally got around to canceling my product, yeah you guessed it- they were just about to charge me. I am absolutely enraged with this company - it took them four days to just respond to an e-mail. I've left 10+ messages on all their lines, left countless e-mails, and finally received this little gem today: "Without a cancellation confirmation dating prior to the 24th of the month, we are not able to issue a refund for this order. As mentioned previously, the subscription has been cancelled so you will not receive any further boxes or charges. Again, we sincerely apologize for any frustration. Please let us know if there is anything else we may assist you with. Until then, have a wonderful rest of your day!" Are you *** kidding me? When it's YOUR FAULT that my card was charged, there's nothing you can do about it? Yeah, well. I plan on calling, e-mailing and complaining about this company until I get a bit fat sorry and all of my money back. Worst company ever. Do not pay for their products - they even claim to be vegan/animal free and ARE NOT. Also, you pay like $20 a month for small weird shaped nailpolish and hardly any products to show for it. And the quality? Yeah, it's essentially cheap acrylic paint in a tube.

A subscribed for a 3 month subscription - they will not honor cancellation

Hello, I signed up for a 3 month subscription to this nail polish service. I am at the start of my 3 month subscription( I have not even orderd or received my 3rd month box). I called customer service to make sure that I cancelled after this month. I was told ny membership - was continual and I could either sign up for a six month box special or I had to email them every month between THE 20th THRU THE 24th to cancel that month's box. Or I will be charged. I have in writing an agreement for a FOR A BOX FOR JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST only! Three month's period. What a scam. Please send me some kind of confirmation so that I may notify my bank. Sincerely, Chelsea Miller

NEVER SUBSCRIBE TO THIS COMPANY

About two weeks ago I subscribed for the first free box. Then wanted to cancel my subscription because I wasn't impressed with the polish. I spoke to a customer service rep and was told I can't cancel the current order because I only have a 4 day window to cancel AND that I cannot return my box. I never even got an email stating how much i was going to be charged, or when. This is absurd, conniving and despicable. I will NEVER recommend julep to anyone I know. I will actually warn anyone not to sign up. I should absolutely be able to return the boxes, unopened. This company should be ashamed of itself.

Help your customers instead of being a ***

This is the worst company ever. I called in a week and a half ago asking when is the last day to cancel a subscription and there were some misunderstandings on the phone. The lady said something about the 28th. I called and asked them to give me my money back and they won't . They were like "oh , you can get store credit" After that they wouldn't even give me free shipping to swap out the polishes. If there were some misunderstanding then you should try the best to assist the customer and not be a *** about it.
